Tips and tricks when shopping online

Since I've become a real `expert` in doing the shopping online, I've made a quick research about some, at first sight, simple things that all online-shoppers should have on mind. After short reading, I realized that not everything is smooth and pinky in virtual shopping space. Although online shopping gives us many advantages like do shopping 24/7, no parking place worries and products delivered right in front of your door, there are some security traps we should watch out for. I share with you some tips and tricks everyone should pay attention at , so you'll have positive shopping experience while shopping online.

  • Buy from reputable online stores and seller
Not every site we're considering purchase from is familiar to us. Maybe even none of our friends and family did shopping there, but there is nothing to worry about, since there are number of ways to make sure it is legitimate. Third-party organizations such as the Better Business Bureau Online and Truste give seals of approval to sites that meet their security and privacy standards.
  • Never give out too much personal info
Be aware of tricky, nosy questions seeking for too much personal information, like asking for your Social Security number. A reputable online retailer would never do that. It is a good practice to give out the seller at least the amount of info required, thus keep close only to a minimum number of field that allows proceeding the purchase.
  • Use safe payment options
Credit cards are generally the safest payment method, since they give you as a buyer the credibility to seek a credit from the issuer if something turns wrong with the offer. It is also very risky to send money over mail or use money-wiring service. Maybe the safest way to do the payment are services like PayPal, Bill Me Later or Pay Simple, because they keep your credit card info stored on security servers. PayPal also says that it monitors accounts for suspicious activity and covers most unauthorized transactions.
  • If shopping on your smart phone , stick to apps you know.
Mobile shopping has its own set of security issues, but it is a good rule of thumb if you use apps provided by retailer and make purchases inside those apps if possible. Nowadays, almost all brands have their own , so it is a wise decision to use the while buying stuff from them.
